June Highlights

Each month I will share with you a wide selection of exhibitions opening and closing in Switzerland. I hope that you find this a useful resource. For more hints on exhibitions to visit, make sure that you are following me on Instagram @mostlymuseums.  

New this month

There are so many new exhibitions are opening this month and I’m looking forward to visiting as many of them as I can. 

  • Chiharu Shiota – Eye to Eye opened 1 June at Haus Konstruktiv. I am really looking forward to seeing this exhibition on Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota, this stunning work (the top image) has been created especially for the exhibition
  • Also opening at Haus Konstruktiv is an exhibition dedicated to Italian artist Salvatore Emblema

  • Schaulager in Basel opens 10 June
  • Basquiat. The Modena Paintings opens 11 June at Fondation Beyeler
  • Magdalena Abakanowicz. Textile Territories opens 23 June at MCBA Lausanne

  • It is also Art Basel which I hope to visit for the first time
  • Sylvie Fleury. Shoplifters from Venus opens 3 June at Kunstmuseum Winterthur
  • Martin Parr. Parrathon opens 22 June at IPFO Olten

Closing this month

It is also your last chance to catch some exhibitions that are closing this month. Two of my highlights are Ugo Rondinone at the Museum of Art and History in Geneva and Katharina Grosse at the Kunstmuseum Bern.

  • When the sun goes down and the moon comes up. Carte Blanche to Ugo Rondinone until 18 June
  • Katharina Grosse. Studio Paintings 1988-2022 until 25 June

Also closing

  • Beirut. The Times of Design closes 25 June at MUDAC in Lausanne (Images below)
  • Chalet. Nostalgia, kitsch and Baukultur closes 30 June at the Swiss National Library, Bern
